DAY 1: ARRIVE IN ULAANBAATAR
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. You’ll be greeted at the airport and escorted to 3* hotel. Take a city tour to Gandan Monastery where you will see huge gold plated Buddha, a symbol of Mongolian national pride and cultural revival and visit National Museum of Mongolian History, where you will see artifacts from Mongolia and Central Asia from the Stone Age to the present. Excursion to Zaisan Hill War Memorial to get your bearings with a panoramic view of the whole city. Overnight in the hotel.
DAY 2: TOUR TO TSONJINBOLDOG & TERELJ NATIONAL PARK (120KM)
After breakfast, drive to Giant Chinggis Khaan statue in Tsonjinboldog hill. The statues in total is 40m high and see as far sighted Chinggis Khaan holds a golden whip in his right hand. Continue to Terelj National park – the most popular destination and the third biggest protected area in Mongolia.You’ll explore the extraordinary formation of rocks and stones; one of them look quite similar to turtle. Overnight in tourist camp.
DAY 3: BAYANGOBI – ELSEN TASARKHAI SAND DUNES (350KM)
Today we will explore the Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes. Elsentasarhai is a unique place representing features of the Gobi desert, mountain steppes and grasslands in a single area,i is a part of the Mongol Els sand dunes, which stretch from the Tuv, Uvurkhangai, and Bulgan provinces. The sand dunes are 80 km long total. River Tarnat flows in the western part of the sand dunes, it is sodden under its surfaces, so shrubberies such as willow, elm, dogwood, shrubbery grow there. In the north there is the rocky and woody mountain “Khugnu khaan” and in the south lies Mt. Ikh Mongol which defines the central point of Mongolia and is surrounded by the Elsen tasarkhai. You can ride camel or horse to explore the sand dunes. The two-humped Bactrian camels are very comfortable to ride as they walk slowly and gently, and you will be well supported by the humps, sitting comfortably between them. Overnight in the tourist camp.
DAY 4: VISIT KHARKHORIN & BAYANGOBI
In the Orkhon river valley, beautiful monastery Erdenezuu coexists with Kharkhorin town. The monastery built on the ruins of ancient Mongolian capital Kharakhorum (13th century) using old materials of the destroyed city. Kharakhorum was one of the stops of the famous “Silk Road.” Erdenezuu is the first and the largest monastery in Mongolia keeping religious masterpieces of the 17th-20th centuries. See some valuable religious items in the temple museum and admire its stunning architecture. Next, visit the Kharkhorum Museum and drive up a hill have turtle stone left from the ancient city Kharkhorum. Drive back to Bayangobi tourist camp for overnight.
DAY 5: KHUSTAI NATIONAL PARK & ULAANBAATAR (280km)
In the morning, we will drive to the Hustai National Park. The khustai National Park of Mongolia is world famous for its successful reintroduction of the Przewalski’s horse since 1992. The area in and around the park is rich with archeological and cultural sites. After lunch at Hustai camp, we will visit the small Ger museum about the national park and wild horse. Then we will take short drive and hiking to see the animals in their natural habitat. This is great opportunity to take photo of these endangered horses. If you are lucky, you can see fox, deer, roe deer, eagle, lynx, pallas’ cat and more animals and birds. Drive to Ulaanbaatar. Once back in UB you will be transferred to hotel. DAY 6: DEPARTURE
End of tour. You will be transferred to the airport.
