Upon your arrival in Ulaanbaatar, your preferred language speaking guide will warmly welcome you, and transfer to the hotel you chose. After refreshment, start city exploring the treasures of Ulaanbaatar from Gandan monastery, Main Square Chinggis khan and Zaisan memorial hill. Enjoy a traditional throat singing performance in the evening and have Mongolian traditional meal.
Head to Middle Gobi, a semi-arid steppe full of rare wildlife and open area. Have lunch at the stunning mountainside granite rock formation of Zorgol Khairkhan, height 1668m above sea level. It appears like a stupa from south, but from east it looks like having a spiral object on its top. Drive to Baga Gazriin Chuluu national park with another iconic granite formation and ruin of Buddhist temple. Hike in the park, around the mountain pass and valley you can see considerable number of ancient graves, khirigsuurs, petroglyphs and monuments besides many gushing springs. Continue travel in the Middle Gobi and explore Tsagaan Suvarga, a colorful geological formations in the valley and cliff shaped like white stupa. This white limestone formation is over 60m tall at its highest point and continues for an impressive length of 400m, was sea desert floor. The stupa rises to the sky at an angle of 90 degrees. Today we will drive to the heart of Gobi desert and discover Three beauties national park. Into the national park, there is Yolyn am valley with ice for hiking and watching wildlife. Yol valley is formatted by high rock walls and big glacier on the ground kept frozen during a hot summer days. It has breathtaking dramatic scenery and without doubt is one of the beautiful places of the country. Hiking along the valley and reach up the icy glacier, you may be lucky enough to spot wild sheep and goat, grazing high on the cliff walls. Visit natural museum of localities. After breakfast, you will be driven to Khongor sand dunes. These are Mongolia’s largest sand dunes, reaching height of 300 meters in some areas. You will be riding on camel to explore the Khongor sand dunes. The two-humped Bactrian camels are very comfortable to ride as they walk slowly and gently, and you will be well supported by the humps, sitting comfortably between them. The sand dunes change color with each hour of the day, from yellow to silver to rose-colored at (dawn/ sundown). Overnight in the tourist camp.
Today we will drive to Bayanzag, (known as Flaming Cliffs where the first nest of dinosaur eggs ever discovered was found in 1922) a site famous for the remains of the Dinosaurs which lived here 60 million years ago. What a chance to walk around where the Dinosaurs once roamed and also get to know saksaul trees and other classic desert vegetation. Take stunning hike through the red sand dune. Travel to the heart of the desert today and marvel at the Ongi monastery. Formerly one of the biggest Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia, Ongi was ruined during a period of political repression. Hike through the fascinating ruins and enjoy the scenery of the Ongi River that runs past the ancient site. On the way, we will enjoy the vast steppe of the country. Overnight in tourist camp
After breakfast this morning drive to Karakorum, the symbolic ruins of the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire. On the way, we will enjoy beautifully changing landscape from semi desert Gobi into forest steppe. Take a tour through the ancient city before moving on the beautiful ruins of Erdenezuu Monastery, surrounded by huge 400m x 400m walls with 108 stupas built from the ruins of Karakorum in 1586. The Erdenezuu was the first and the biggest Buddhist monastery of the 16th century. Overnight in a tourist Ger camp.
In the morning, we will pass by Tsetserleg town and visit Chuluut River, which flows in the gorge formed of lava of the nearby extinct volcano such as Khorgo and others. Moreover visit Khorgo-terkh national park, which consists of Khorgo volcano and the White Lake. It’s surrounded by the Khangai Mountains, which reach as 3000 meters above the sea level. Walk up to the crater of an Extinct Khorgo volcano. Lastly, we will arrive in White Lake created by volcanic eruption. White lake is a good spot for bird watching and photographing. After breakfast we will drive Jargalant soum, Visit Jargal Jiguur hot springs, sulphar springs that emerge from the ground (300m) at 70 degrees Celsius. Facilities include outdoor baths (male and female), showers and accommodation. We will visit a local horsemen family where you have an opportunity to experience their way of life, their culture and traditions. Overnight in tourist camp.
After breakfast drive to Murun town, the capital of Huvsgul province. On the way visit a fantastic historical area including 2-3m high deer stone, 3-4m high tombs, ruins of Munh Khaan’s palace and monuments for Kul Bilge Khaan in Uushgi uvur. Take a city tour of Murun town and visit museum. Relax in local hotel.
Today, we will drive to Huvsgul Lake, the deepest and purest lake in Mongolia, contains about 1.5% of the world’s fresh water. You have opportunity to trek to the lakeside & mountain for taking photos and exploring and enjoying the wildlife, flora & fauna of Huvsgul lake area. Overnight in tourist camp.
This morning we will hike to reindeer breeding family; who make their summer home in the lake and witness of visit Tsaatan traditional house- teepee and immerse in their culture. After lunch embark on the motor-boat, navigate the lake and approach to one of four fascinating islands. Overnight in tourist Ger camp.
Leaving the lake Khovsgol, we will continue the tour to volcano Uran. It is a dormant volcano rich in fauna and flora. Hike to the crater through larch forest and see small lake in the bottom of crater. Overnight in tourist Ger camp.
Head to one of the biggest three Buddhist monastery called Amarbayasgalant. The monastery built for the first Mongolia’s religious leader Zanabazar in the 18th century and was partly damaged during the communist purge but restoration work has brought the monastery back to something like its former glory. Visit the monastery and learn from the Buddhist culture. Overnight in tourist Ger camp
We head back to Ulaanbaatar. Once back in UB you will be transferred to hotel. If you would like to do some shopping for souvenirs and cashmeres in Ulaanbaatar, here is the chance and later in the evening, we all attend a live performance of Mongolian National folklore. Overnight in the hotel.
End of tour. You will be transferred to the airport.
