Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. You’ll be greeted at the airport and escorted to 3* hotel. Take a city tour to Gandan Monastery where you will see huge gold plated Buddha, a symbol of Mongolian national pride and cultural revival and visit National Museum of Mongolian History, where you will see artifacts from Mongolia and Central Asia from the Stone Age to the present. Excursion to Zaisan Hill War Memorial to get your bearings with a panoramic view of the whole city. Overnight in the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Giant Chinggis Khaan statue in Tsonjinboldog hill. The statues in total is 40m high and see as far sighted Chinggis Khaan holds a golden whip in his right hand. Continue to Terelj National park – the most popular destination and the third biggest protected area in Mongolia.You’ll explore the extraordinary formation of rocks and stones; one of them look quite similar to turtle. Overnight in tourist camp.
In the morning, we will drive to the Hustai National Park. This area is home to the Mongolian wild horse, known as Perzevalski horse (takhi). After lunch at Hustai camp, we will visit the small Ger museum about the national park and wild horse. Then we will take short drive and hiking to see the animals in their natural habitat. This is great opportunity to take photo of these endangered horses. If you are lucky, you can see fox, deer, roe deer, eagle, lynx, pallas’ cat and more animals and birds. Drive to Bayangobi tourist camp in Elsentasarkhai sand dunes. Elsentasarhai is a unique place representing features of the Gobi desert, mountain steppes and grasslands in a single area.
Today we will explore the Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes. Elsen tasarkhai is a part of the Mongol Els sand dunes, which stretch from the Tuv, Uvurkhangai, and Bulgan provinces. The sand dunes are 80 km long total. River Tarnat flows in the western part of the sand dunes, it is sodden under its surfaces, so shrubberies such as willow, elm, dogwood, shrubbery grow there. In the north there is the rocky and woody mountain “Khugnu khaan” and in the south lies Mt. Ikh Mongol which defines the central point of Mongolia and is surrounded by the Elsen tasarkhai. You can ride camel or horse to explore the sand dunes. The two-humped Bactrian camels are very comfortable to ride as they walk slowly and gently, and you will be well supported by the humps, sitting comfortably between them. After breakfast this morning drive to Karakorum, the symbolic ruins of the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire. Take a tour through the ancient city before moving on the beautiful ruins of Erdenezuu Monastery, surrounded by huge 400m x 400m walls with 108 stupas built from the ruins of Karakorum in 1586. The Erdenezuu was the first and the biggest Buddhist monastery of the 16th century. After lunch continue our journey to the Tsenkher hot spa, situated between forested hills and breath taking mountains, this hot spring is surrounded by cliffs and rapid rivers. Water from this geological spectacle emerges from the ground at 85.5°C (185.9°F). It is said that the Tsenkher hot springs have healing properties that assist in treating articular diseases and nervous system diseases. Take the chance to unwind today with a trip to the Tsenkher Hot Spa. Settle in to the tourist Ger camp and enjoy a natural hot spring bath. Overnight in tourist Ger camp
In the morning, we will pass by Tsetserleg town and visit Chuluut River, which flows in the gorge formed of lava of the nearby extinct volcano such as Khorgo and others. Moreover visit Khorgo-terkh national park, which consists of Khorgo volcano and the White Lake. It’s surrounded by the Khangai Mountains, which reach as 3000 meters above the sea level. Walk up to the crater of an Extinct Khorgo volcano. Lastly, we will arrive in White Lake created by volcanic eruption. White lake is a good spot for bird watching and photographing. Overnight in tourist camp.
After breakfast, we will visit a yak herding nomad family and experience their unique life. 1- 2 hours horse riding with the help of a local equestrian. Have a lunch at the ger camp and move heading legendary Taikhar Rock near the rapid current Tamir River. On the way, we will explore some deer stones date back to The Bronze Age. See the Taikhar Rock and discover the Tamir area.
After breakfast, we will drive to Lake Ugii – is a fresh water lake located in steppe, with a surface area of 25 sq km. It is a stopover point for more than 150 species of migrating waterfowls. Ugii lake has been registered as part of the east-north Asian international networking system that protects goose and duck flocks. In 1971, Ramsar convention registered Ugii lake as a protected water ecosystem. Enjoy hiking, short horse riding along the shore of the breathtaking lake. Take the time to watch the amazing bird life that fills the lake with sound and color. Overnight in tourist Ger camp
We head back to Ulaanbaatar. Once back in UB you will be transferred to hotel. If you would like to do some shopping for souvenirs and cashmeres in Ulaanbaatar, here is the chance and later in the evening, we all attend a live performance of Mongolian National folklore. Overnight in the hotel.
